Our operations
We operate two mining and processing streams at Mount Isa Mines, copper and zinc-lead-silver, to deliver natural resources of enduring value in modern society.
Copper mining
Mount Isa Mines is the second largest copper producer in Australia and a key asset in Glencore's global mining portfolio.
We produce copper at our Enterprise and X41 underground mines in Mount Isa, which form some of the largest networks of underground mine development in the world.
Zinc mining
We also mine one of the largest zinc resource bases in the world.
Our zinc assets in and around Mount Isa consist of George Fisher underground mine, and Lady Loretta underground mine located 140 kilometres north-west of Mount Isa and operated by Redpath Australia.
Metals processing
We operate a copper concentrator, zinc-lead concentrator and filter plant, copper smelter and lead smelter, as well as support services.
We process ore onsite at our concentrating and smelting operations, to produce copper anode, lead bullion and concentrates. Our products are then transported to Townsville, for further refinement and export to domestic and international markets.
